About the Montgomery Welcome Center

The Montgomery Welcome Center, which opened in late 2024, is located just west of the historic “downtown” Montgomery at 21499 Eva Street. The Welcome Center is directly next to the City of Montgomery offices, reflecting a close relationship between the 90-year-old Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Welcome Center, and the city itself.

The Welcome Center provides a great “first stop” for visitors and newcomers who want to learn more about the area, including the lively business community. As an extension of the Conroe/Lake Conroe Chamber, the Welcome Center also serves as a resource to local businesses, providing many of the same services as the Chamber’s ‘home base’ in downtown Conroe.

The Welcome Center is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. You can contact the Welcome Center directly at 936.597.3020.

About Montgomery, Texas

Montgomery, Texas, is a special, historic place. It was founded in 1837 in the middle of the Lake Creek Settlement by W.W. Shepperd. Shepperd established the first store in the Lake Creek Settlement in 1835. The town was named “Montgomery” by Shepperd, who had previously lived in Montgomery County, Alabama.

While Montgomery is widely known as the “Birthplace of the Texas Flag,” it is so much more than that! Set in the beautiful rolling terrain of western Montgomery County, it offers something for everyone with tree lined streets, historic parks, antique shopping, delicious restaurants, and well-planned subdivisions.

Montgomery is also home to a growing number of businesses that support the local economy. For more information about the history of Montgomery, visit the City of Montgomery website.

The Welcome Center is open Tuesday-Saturday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. You can contact the Welcome Center directly at 936.597.3020.
